Business Plans & Growth Strategy

Turn your business idea or growth ambition into a plan that makes commercial sense.

Whether you are starting with an idea or already running a business, BizPromptly helps you turn ambition into a structured commercial plan, covering the market, customers, revenue model, financials, operations, risks and growth strategy.

Where you are starting from

Two starting points, the same destination

Most people arrive here in one of two situations. The work looks a little different for each, but the aim is the same: a plan the business can actually run on.

I have a business idea

You might have a concept, industry experience, a problem you believe should be solved, several possible ideas, an early product or an MVP that still needs validation. We help you move from a rough idea to something structured.

I already run a business

Growth may have stalled, or you may be planning a new product, a new market, an investment conversation, or a way to reduce how much rests on the founder. We help you set a clear direction and priorities.

Validation

Before you build it, find out whether it makes sense

Enthusiasm is necessary but it is not evidence. Commercial validation is about testing the idea against the questions a customer, a bank or an investor would ask, while there is still time to adjust. We work through questions like these with you:

  • What problem are you solving?
  • Who actually has that problem?
  • Is it painful enough that someone will pay to solve it?
  • Who is the target customer, specifically?
  • What alternatives do people use today?
  • Why would a customer choose this business over them?
  • How does the company make money?
  • What will it cost to win a customer?
  • What resources and skills are required?
  • Which assumptions most need testing?
  • What is most likely to make the idea fail?

The point is not to talk you out of the idea. It is to make it stronger, or to find the version of it that works.

Business model

Build the business model before polishing the document

A business plan is only as good as the model underneath it. These are the parts we work through so the plan has something solid to describe.

Customer and value

Target customer, the problem you solve for them, and a value proposition stated in plain terms.

Product and pricing

How the product or service is structured, and a pricing approach that reflects the value and the cost to deliver.

Revenue and delivery

The revenue model, how the work is delivered, and any recurring revenue opportunity where the model supports one.

Acquisition and distribution

How customers are found and won, and the channels and partnerships that reach them.

Resources and operations

The key resources, operational requirements and cost structure the business runs on.

Advantage and scale

What makes the business hard to copy, and whether the model can grow without breaking.

Market research

Know the market you are entering

A plan that talks confidently about a market it has not researched is easy to pick apart. We can support:

Market sizing and the assumptions behind it
Industry analysis
Competitor research
Customer segments and personas
Trend analysis
Pricing research
Opportunity and geographic assessment
Barriers to entry
Demand assumptions and how to test them
Competitive positioning

We do not fabricate evidence, and desk research on its own does not prove that customers will buy. The strongest propositions pair research with real-world validation, and we help you plan that.

Positioning

Why should somebody choose you?

Every business has competition, including the option of doing nothing. A credible plan is clear about who else solves this problem and why a customer would pick you. We help with:

Competitor mapping, direct and indirect
The alternatives customers use instead
Points of genuine differentiation
Positioning and value proposition
The customer pain points that matter most
Messaging that lands
Defensibility
Gaps in the market worth targeting

Business plan development

We build the plan with you

Not “send us your idea and we will write everything for you”. We develop the plan collaboratively, so you understand the assumptions, numbers and strategy behind it and can defend them. A professionally developed plan usually covers:

The proposition

Executive summary, business overview, the founder or management team, the problem or market need, the product or service and the value proposition.

Market and competition

Target customer, market analysis, competitor analysis and where the business fits.

Commercial model

Business model, revenue model, pricing strategy, marketing and sales strategy and the go-to-market plan.

Delivery and organisation

Operations, staffing and organisation, and technology where it is part of the model.

Financials

Financial assumptions, cash flow, profit and loss forecasts, break-even analysis and funding requirement where relevant.

Risk and growth

Risk assessment, milestones, growth strategy, scalability and an implementation roadmap.

Financial modelling

Your numbers should support the story

If the forecast assumes a level of sales the marketing plan cannot deliver, a reader will notice. We build the numbers with you so the plan holds together:

Startup costs
Operating costs
Pricing assumptions
Sales assumptions
Revenue forecasts
Gross margin thinking
Cash-flow forecasts
Staffing costs
Break-even analysis
Customer acquisition assumptions
Funding requirements
Scenario planning: best, base and downside where appropriate
12-month projections, and 3-year where appropriate

These are management forecasts developed with you, based on assumptions that should be defensible. They are not guarantees, and they are not accountant-certified or audited projections.

Growth strategy

What gets the business to the next stage?

This service is not only about writing plans. If the business already exists, the useful question is what actually moves it forward. We look across:

Increasing customer acquisition
Improving conversion
Pricing strategy
Increasing average customer value
Retention and repeat business
New products or services
Geographic or market expansion
Partnerships and channels
Digital growth
Operations and margins
Team capability
Automation, CRM and sales process
Recurring revenue
Reducing founder dependency

We do not promise growth. We help identify, prioritise and execute the opportunities that are credible for your business.

From strategy to action

A strategy should lead somewhere

We work through six layers so the strategy turns into a plan people can act on.

  1. 01

    Current state

Where the business is today, honestly assessed.

  2. 02

    Target state

Where you want it to be, and by when.

  3. 03

    Gap

What is actually stopping it getting there.

  4. 04

    Priorities

The few things that matter most, in order.

  5. 05

    Milestones

What needs to happen, and when.

  6. 06

    Metrics

    How progress will be measured.

The output is a set of strategic priorities, 90-day actions, a 12-month roadmap, a longer-term growth direction, KPI recommendations, clear ownership, the key risks and the decision points ahead.

Not sure what kind of plan you need?

You may have an idea, an existing business or a specific growth goal without knowing exactly what document or strategy you need. Tell us where you are today and where you want the business to go. We will help determine the right starting point.

Discuss Your Business

Funding readiness

If you are asking somebody to back the business, the numbers and strategy need to stand up to scrutiny

For a lender, grant or investment conversation, we can help prepare:

A business plan a third party can follow
A financial model with a clear use of funds
The growth case and the commercial narrative
Market opportunity and evidence
Risk assessment
Milestones the funding pays for
Pitch preparation
Information organised the way lenders and investors expect

We do not promise funding, and we do not have guaranteed access to investors or lenders. Different lenders, grant providers and investors have different requirements, and you should always check the final application criteria with them.

Plan review

Already have a business plan? We can challenge it

Not everyone needs a plan built from scratch. If you already have one, we can pressure-test:

  • The internal logic
  • The assumptions
  • The financials
  • The market evidence
  • The customer proposition
  • The competitor analysis
  • The strategy and scalability
  • The risks
  • Consistency across sections
  • Gaps and what is missing
  • Readability
  • Lender or investor readiness where relevant

You get a clear account of where the plan is strong, where it is weak and what to do about it.

Questions

Common questions

Do you help people who only have a business idea?

Yes. A lot of our work starts at the idea stage, sometimes with several ideas on the table. We help you decide whether an idea can become a viable business before you commit time and money to it.

Can BizPromptly help me develop my business idea?

Yes. We help you shape the proposition, model and strategy. The idea and the direction stay yours; our role is to research, challenge and structure it into something commercially credible.

Can you write a business plan for me?

We work collaboratively with you to research, structure, challenge and document the business. You stay actively involved so that the assumptions, strategy and financials reflect the real business, and so you can explain them to a bank, an investor or your own team.

How involved do I need to be?

Enough to know the plan inside out. We do the heavy lifting on research, structure and financial modelling, but the decisions and the knowledge need to be yours. A plan you cannot talk through is not much use.

What does a business plan include?

Typically an executive summary, the business and team, the problem and market, the product, the business and revenue model, market and competitor analysis, marketing and sales strategy, operations, financial forecasts, risks, milestones and a growth and implementation plan. The exact contents depend on what the plan is for.

Can you help with financial forecasts?

Yes. We build a management forecast with you: startup and operating costs, pricing and sales assumptions, revenue, cash flow, break-even and funding requirements, with best, base and downside scenarios where useful. These are assumption-based forecasts, not guarantees or certified accounts.

Can you conduct market research?

Yes: market sizing, industry and competitor analysis, customer segments and personas, trends and pricing research. We are clear about what desk research can and cannot tell you, and we help you plan real-world validation alongside it.

Can you review a business plan I already have?

Yes. We can pressure-test the logic, assumptions, financials, market evidence, strategy, risks and consistency, and tell you where it is strong and where it needs work. Not everyone needs a plan from scratch.

Do you help existing businesses with growth strategy?

Yes, and it is a large part of this service. For a trading business we look at the current position, the growth opportunities that are realistic, the priorities, the numbers and a roadmap to act on.

Can you help us prepare for funding or investment?

We can help make the commercial case and the supporting information as strong as they can be: the plan, the financial model, the use of funds, the growth case and pitch preparation. Whether to fund the business is always the lender's or investor's decision.

Can you guarantee funding?

No. No one credible can. We can help strengthen the commercial case and the preparation, but funding decisions rest with the relevant lender, investor, grant provider or other organisation, against their own criteria.

How long does a business plan take?

It depends on the starting point, the complexity of the market and how much research and financial modelling is involved. A focused plan for a straightforward business is quicker than a multi-product plan for a new market. We agree scope and a timeline before starting.

How much does a business plan cost?

The Business Idea & Strategy Session starts from £250. Business Plan Development starts from £1,250. Growth Strategy & Roadmap starts from £1,500. The combined Business Plan + Full Growth Strategy starts from £2,500. Final pricing depends on stage, complexity, research depth, financial modelling and the level of strategy required.

What is the difference between a business plan and a growth strategy?

A business plan explains how a business will work and make money, often for a launch or a funding conversation. A growth strategy takes a business that already runs and sets out how it gets to the next stage: the priorities, the numbers and the roadmap. Some clients need one, some need both.

Can you help us implement the plan afterwards?

Yes. Where a plan identifies work on operations, automation, CRM and sales or AI adoption, our other services can take it from strategy to implementation.

Do you support Innovator Founder business plans?

Yes, through a dedicated service. If you are specifically preparing the business and commercial side for the UK Innovator Founder route, use our Innovator Founder Business Support service, which is built around that context. This page covers general business planning and growth strategy.

A good plan should help you make better decisions, not just fill a document.

Whether you are starting from an idea or planning the next stage of an established company, BizPromptly can help turn your thinking into a commercially structured plan.
